Any suggestions for a skin problem with my daughter?

skin problem
ProudMama2008 asked:

My 10 month old gets red welt looking things on her thighs where her diaper rubs. I hate it and I do not know what to do to help. Her doctor said to switch diapers but the fact is that every diaper rubs on their legs no matter what brand. I have tried diaper cream, vasoline, and I do not want to do lotion because I am afraid it will sting and hurt her. I try to keep onesies on her to keep from rubbing. Has anyone else had this problem, what did you do?

Wet creams are definitely not the solution. Best thing is to put some baby powder wherever she is red and keep up w/it as it will surely rub off during the day.

If you find no solutions, I would resort to cloth diapers; she may have an allergic reaction to the others.

sounds like simple diaper rash, but this is definitely something that you want to address quickly because infants/children that young are liable to develop eczema if rashes become too commonplace.
i recommend trying to find something to reduce the amount of friction on the surface of whatever the diaper is and the baby; vaseline was a good try, but i wouldn`t recommend it because of the fact that it completely covers all pores on the skin and that itself can be somewhat irritating.
you could use some lotions, but whatever lotions you use should be extremely light and usable on the extremely sensitive skin that babies have. i recommend something with aloe vera, if possible, aloe vera itself is good if you know how to apply the leaf [if you actually want more details on this, email me and i will explain], but everything in moderation, really; even too much of a good thing is bad, and that “too much” is a limit very easily reached with infants.
simply put, what you need is something to eliminate the chafing/friction at the rash sites.
i can`t really think of any brilliant or resourceful ways to do this right now, but you could even do it as simply as taking some handkerchief or some length of fabric and wrapping it tight around the legs or something, so that the diaper does not come in direct contact with the skin, and therefore, no chafing.

Try using aveno creamy body wash for babies my doctor recomneded it when my babies skin was really dry and red and it worked next day it was better

Try to bath her every night, maybe even in morning and night, twice a day for a while. And powder, and penaten cream, different diaper rash creams work well, same with aveeno baby rash cream. But there isn’t too much you can do, is she a chunky monkey ? if so then things get stuck in her rolls and its like sweat that causes skin to get irritated, red and possibly tear.
Best of luck! She’ll thin out and it will get better.

A ’skin-smart’ diet comprises of the following:
Hydration: Drink plenty of fluids with a minimum of 6- 8 glasses (200ml) of water per day. Additionally low cal beverages like coconut water, butter milk, clear soups, citrus fruit juices and vegetable juices etc. can be the add on’s.

Increase intake of monounsaturated fats through invisible sources as foods (refer box)

Use of coarse grain cereals adds on to the zinc, magnesium, selenium, and vitamin E intake.

Do away with the refined sugars and maida based products including overemphasis on biscuits and bakery products.

Studies show excess intake of saturated fats and red meats also add on to the risk of acne, pimples etc. So minimise on the greasy, unhealthy fast foods, eat outs or take home habits.
