My dog has a weird rash. At first I thought it was rug burn but now its on other parts. It’s not fleas. Does anyone know other insects that bite? It looks like he has tiny scabs on him…I’m scared!

I have seen several Italian Greyhounds with demodectic mange, but without actually seeing your dog, doing a skin scraping and looking at it under a microscope, a positive diagnoses would be impossible.

You usually see demodectic mange in dogs under 18 months old. The exact cause is unknown since dogs normally have the mite on their skin, but some dogs either have an allergy or immune deficiency to the mite, but it is thought to be an inherited skin problem.

Take your dog to the vet. If it is demodectic mange, there is a treatment and it’s much easier to treat if it is diagnosed early before there are secondary bacterial infections.

There is also other skin problems it could possibly be such as allergies and even Sarcoptic mange. A vet is your best best for an accurate diagnoses.
