Does anyone have any remedies for the genetic Fawn Doberman skin problems?
Emily:D asked:
My mom’s dobie just had puppies, and I picked the runt of the litter who had trouble nursing and bottle fed him to keep him alive, so I decided to keep him for myself. He happens to be Fawn (Isabella) colored, named Jasper. He’s a little over three weeks old and already showing signs of having the bumps and flakey skin. I know there isn’t a cure for the skin condition, but I was wondering if there was anything I could do to make the bumps go away, and keep his coat from getting wirey and falling out??

Blues and fawns have similar skin issues.
Try tea tree oil. They have shampoo’s with it in. Get a good one. There is one called “HorseGuard” and is diluted. (Try a tack shop). Won’t hurt.
I haven’t used it on an Isabella Doberman, but for acne and dry skin on other dogs, Emu oil works magic. It won’t cost much to try, and certainly can’t do any harm even to a pup that young.
I usually get mine on ebay ( only get 100% pure oil, not one with additives) But many drug stores are carrying it now.
Rub the oil into your hands, spread all over the pup in a massaging motion, to rub it to the skin. Wrap the pup in a very warm towel for a few minutes, to aid the oil soaking in. You can repeat daily, or as needed. (Your hands wil feel wonderful, too! lol)
There is a person of great knowledge that has helped me many times. You can contact Marina at
She is quick to answer emails, and if there is any real (permanent) help for your pup, she is the one who would know.
