It may be ringworm, I’d get yourself down to the doctors just in case as it needs to be treated and is contagious.
Good luck! Lucy
Sounds like ringworm (a fungus) to me. A topical anti-fungal is called for. The kitten will definitely need to be treated, probably with a shampoo from the vet. You will probably need a prescription for an anti-fungal cream. BILL C
it sound like ring worm, yes it is dis-figuring. If you get it on your scalp, you may never grown hair there again. it kills the follicles. get medication right away. michael o
Animals can also be affected by ringworm and may transmit the condition to humans. In this case, ringworm is an example of a zoonotic disease, or a disease transmitted from animals to humans. Cats are the most commonly affected animals. In animals, ringworm causes raised, circular areas that frequently are crusted over and associated with hair loss. However, some infected cats may also carry the fungus without showing any symptoms. On the other hand, infected dogs almost always show the typical skin symptoms of ringworm. Elizabeth M
No you shouldn’t get rid of the cat. It isn’t her fault.
What both of you have is a common disease called ringworm. You do not try to treat it at home. Instead, the cat needs to go to the vet and you need to see your regular Dr, or a dermatologist.

Your kitty has ring worm and now you do as well.
Bring your cat to the vet. They will give you medicine for her ring worm. For yourself, you can use anti fungal cream. The kind they have for athletes food.
Make sure you bring your kitty in. As you already know this is highly contagious.
Make sure you wash the kitty’s bedding, as well as yours and clean disinfetc the places where kitty sleeps!
EDIT: OMG don’t get rid of your cat! This is very curable, but you need to see a vet now! Feury’s Mom
Hi there,
Those red “circles” that you describe sound suspiciously like ring worm. Ring worm is not a worm, but is a fungus, and is very contagious between cats and humans.
You need to be treated, as well as your cat. There is no need to “get rid” of your kitty. Your vet can give you the right medication for your kitty. Your vet will more than likely use a “wood’s light” on your cat to diagnose if she indeed has ringworm. Ringworm glows a bright green under the light.
If your kitty is infected with this fungus, she can get medication, but you will need to see your doctor and have him prescribe medication for you, and possibly your family as well, if they have been handling her.
Do not use any over the counter meds on your cat. You must find out if this is ringworm and use the medications your vet will give you.
The article I cited also gives suggestions about how to disinfect your home, especially towels and linen. It is crucial for you to wage war on anything that may contain the spores of this fungus.
Good luck to you and your kitty. Your cat will recover from this fungus, and she will be safe for you to handle. But if you are not treated, you can pass the fungus back to her.
Hope this helps,

that definitely sounds like ringworm. i’d take the cat to the vet and buy yourself some anti-fungal foot cream and apply it to your red circles. I Bleed Sarcasm
Take the kitten to the vet and get medication for it, known as ring worm. Take yourself to the doctor and get treated yourself keep kitten away from children until she is well and yourself keep lightly covered if you touch your children. Ask doctor and vet on how to decontaminate the house. ejbuttons
It certainly sounds like ringworm. It is not dangerous but it can be a bit difficult to get rid of, particularly if your cat has long fur. Your doctor will give you anti fungal medicine (ringworm is NOT a worm but a fungus which grows best in warm/damp environments which is why a lot of cats get it in the folds of their ears). Your vet will prescribe medicines for your cat. You will probably be given a special shampoo for her, along with topical cream to apply to the patches. You will need to keep the treatment up until she no longer has the problem and this will be diagnosed by the vet either by doing a hair pluck, a skin scrape or by using a special lamp which shows the infected area. It is a good idea to continue the medication for a couple of weeks after the ringworm has gone as it can lie dormant for a while.
You will need to keep her bedding clean and wash your hands with antibacterial soap after you have handled her.
There is absolutely no reason to get rid of your cat. Just carry out your vet’s instructions and she will be fine. Ringworm can run its own course eventually and clear up by itself, particularly if your cat is allowed outside as sunlight is extremely good for it. jue7rc
sounds like ringworm - hence the circles - you and your pet need medical treatment. Jo
More then likely its Ringworm (a fungus) that both of you have and needs to be treated. Get the cat to the vet for treatment and see your doctor for meds too so you can get rid of it.
It IS contageous between peopel and pets! Ocimom
