how do i cure my snakes skin problem, think he was under the heat lamp too long?

It sounds like it didn’t shed properly. You’ll need to soak in warmish, shallow water and try to shed…carefully making sure eye caps are out. if in doubt. take to a vet. In the future, when skin starts getting milky, make sure you mist daily. Bonnie C
The nice thing about snakes is they routinely shed and renew their skin. His skin may be looking dull and “wrinkly” because he is getting ready to shed.
If you are concerned about the heat lamp, try switching to a hot rock heat system, or make sure there is adequate distance between the lamp and the snake. A thermometer in the aquarium can help insure that the snake is not overheating. Also, make sure your snake has plenty of water in it’s dish at all times - he may enjoy soaking in it, and that sometimes helps with a shed.
Also, if the scales appear like they’re lifted away from the body, you may have a type of mite or scale infestation. If that’s the case, check with your local reptile vet for a topical treatment. stonefieldhill
First, see if it looks like a burn. If so, you’ll need to see a vet.
From your description however, it sounds like he might just be dehydrated. Was he due to shed? Sometimes when they are too dry, the skin doesn’t come off properly and gives them wrinkles. Pour some water in his tank so that the substrate is nice and moist, and check again in 24 hours. The skin should all come off. If that doesn’t quite do it, you can soak him in a Tupperware container (inside his tank so it stays warm) for about an hour. Fill the container 1/3 full with lukewarm water and put the snake inside. Then put him back in his wet tank and see what happens. After the shed, clean out the tank completely and replace the wet stuff with fresh substrate, or he’ll get scale rot. synabun
You need to buy a squirt bottle and squirt it daily. Either that or get a humidifyer.

I’d soak him in a warm bath to help or moist him with a spray bottle. Also you probably want to get a lower watt, you don’t want this to happen again. But you should take him in the vet to make sure he is alright. vellen99
I agree it sounds as if he’s getting ready to shed. Up the humidity and wait until he sheds. If you have any heating unit, you need a thermostat. If you have concerns about burns, that tells me you have no idea what the temperatures are under your heat lamp and that you have nothing regulating it. gallianomom2001
Try switching to a heating pad, the heat lamp tends to dry out the air in the tank which can lead to bad shedding. also, dont used a heat rock, they can be dangerous ashlea_accident
