how can you use home remedies when you don’t know what it is get a vet to diagnose the problem ♥life is great anihilates BYB♥
If he’s had skin issues before you’re looking at a Veterinarian-needed problem.
Itchiness and hairloss can be several things. The obvious being fleas, of course. Animals can be allergic to fleas and have rough breakouts over their rump, shoulders and neck. Even ONE FLEA can cause a bad breakout.
The 2nd thing that I would consider (if you’re CERTAIN fleas aren’t the problem) is allergies. Animals can have allergies to their environment just like humans can. Dust mites, pollens, grasses, dander, etc. If that’s the case, immunotherpay is your only answer. Unless its seasonal. Then some Benadryl or Prednisone can give temporary help.
Food allergies are a pain to diagnose and then you’d have to feed a special diet the rest of your pet’s life, which can get expensive. So lets hope its not that.
3rd would be a skin mite. Demodectic mange is a mite that lives in the hair follicle and is common in puppies and young adults. Hairloss is usually seen on the face (around the eyes and muzzle), on the feet, and sometimes on the trunk (or chest). Demodex is curable, but takes a couple months. We used to give medicated bathes, but now the current treatment is a monthly application of ProMeris.
There is always other possibilities such as staph or yeast infections and other bugs, but the above listed is the most common. Jessi Rae, RVT
Have you recently changed his food?
If so, try switching to something else, it could be a food allergy in which case, after switching the food within 3 or 4 weeks of feeding something else you should see improvements.
If the patches of missing hair are very irritated and dry.. put some Vaseline on them Brittanye
