skin problems

it started after about two weeks after having her, a scab appeared on her head and then it spread to all over her head and then her fur started to fall out on the top of her head. after a short while it spread to her front and back legs and her tail. it has grown back on her head now but is still hasn’t on her legs or tail, which are scabby now and it looks horrible. we have been to the vets so many times and spent so much money doing so. shes had skin scrapings, treated for mites, fleas, many injections, has been on antibiotics for months, and we have a special shampoo that we have to wash her with once a week. her fur grew back pretty much completely once but then fell out on her back legs and tail again. nothing seems to help and i wondered if anyone else’s dogs have had any problems like this and what they did to help it.
she is on a mixture of wet and dry food not really a set brand it changes

I know what a pug is, but why in hell would some body breed it with a chia pet. No wonder the poor thing has skin problems. you are suppose to soak it in water so the hair can grow. Didn’t you read the directions. Pamela

What food is your dog on?
Mixed brands? Have you had her on Bakers or Pedigree??
Pretty much any ‘Supermarket brand’ Can cause skin allergies, especially the two above, they’re TERRIBLE foods!!
Also, Chopping and Changing foods will never be good for your dog, Find a food that suits her, and stick with it, swapping foods may create digestive problems and alot of them wont contain the correct vitamins your dog needs.
I’d suggest trying an additive & colouring free food, also avoid beef flavoured.
Brands such as James well beloved, Arden Grange, Science plan etc are very good for sensitive dogs, but slowly introduce it to their current diet eg; 3/4 current 1/4 new for a week, then 1/2 current 1/2 new etc. They are a more expensive food but due to the decent quality you can feed less as it gives all the nutrients and keeps them fuller for longer. It sounds like your pet has a lot of misery!

Go back to your vet (or at least telephone) and ask questions.

Will the shampoo ALONE take care of this condition or is there something else I need to do, or have done, and how often does it need to be done (shots, pills, dips, etc.)?

What is wrong with my dog? Is it more than one thing? Is it curable or will I need to treat this condition for the life of the dog? Is it contagious?

It is my guess, based on what you wrote, that your dog has more than one problem and the condition(s) will have to be treated all the time, for the life of the dog BUT that is only a guess. You will need to ASK YOUR VET. I strongly doubt that the food is causing these problems but ASK YOUR VET. Once your dog gets scabby all over and looks awful, some kind hearted neighbor may report you for animal abuse if you don’t do something for your dog and KEEP DOING IT so that it never looks that bad ever again. Once you get arrested for animal abuse. . . well, you don’t want to go there. Lizzie

Sounds like an allergy - Dermacton will treat the problem while you figure out the cause: River
