it’s pretty common in all breeds of dogs. Your vet might put your dod on prednisone, which is a steroid that wll control the itching, and therefore control the dog’s need to chew at it’s skin. Sarah W
it may be fleas, and from it scratching from them, my aunt’s dog had that, maybe you should take it to the vet just in case nks p
take it to the vet. it could be allergies, mange, or a multitude of other things. brindle

hairloss can be caused by many things.
from just itchy dry skin from the weather change, rubbing up against that part of the body, allergies, ringworm fungus, etc.
The first stop should be your vet.. but if you are low on cash here are two big things to try.
change foods: try something that has no wheat, no grain, no chicken, no dairy, no white(brewers) rice.
simple solution is a lamb and brown rice food. Chicken is one of the top 10 food allergies that dogs have… kind of interesting since so many dogs food use it since it is a cheap meat.
I use Solid Gold (meats are turkey, lamb, or bison)
and
Timberwolf Organics (bison, venison, lamb)
Innova (EVO) has several brands that have no grain or wheat.. they do have chicken though unless you get the Red Meat(RM) that might be to much protein for your pup though.
try and find a protein ratio that is double the fat. to many foods now have WAY to much fat in them, and very little protein.
Next try to take care of the skin… try a tsp of flaxseed oil on his AM food for about a week. if it’s just seasonal dry skin/hair loss then it will clear up in a week or two.
hope that helps justacelticgirl
There are many causes of coat loss in Pomeranians. Here is a list of only a few: Fleas, Allergies, Walking Dandruff, Mange, Thyroid Condtion, Hormone Imbalance, Staph Infection, Alopecia….
Have your dog checked by a vet. Your vet may want to do blood work to check for thyroid condtions, hormone imbalances or any other conditions.
If nothing is found with blood work then they may want to do skin scrapings to test for other conditions. pom_handler06
The Vet just finished all the blood work on our pom. He was loosing his hair and skin was turning black. He was diagnosed with type one cushings, he is 10 yrs old. The Dr. prescribed 5 vitamins which he takes 3 times a day. They are: melotinin, biotin, flaxseed oil, salmon oil and vitamin E. It has been 3 months and all his hair, except around his tail, is back and his skin is pink again. laurakayla
