A mate of mine had this problem and she used to drink hot water with a slice of lemon in it. I’ve seen her back go from being covered, to being clear in a week or so. You could try it. lynn p
Have you been to the doctor? There are various things they can prescribe. A topical antibiotic, Retin A gel or maybe this could be caused by a hormonal inbalance.
You could spend a fortune buying ‘over the counter’ products but you need to know what is causing it.
You could try drinking lots of water and eating healthily but as this seems to be a long term problem, I think you need to get medical advice. Wish I knew
The products you are using, are they Salsylic Acid or Benzoyl peroxide? BP can be VERY drying. I personally like SA better. Salsylic acid it really good. It is in almost all acne washes. Benzoyl Peroxide is too drying for me! Try finding a face lotion with SA in it. Clean and Clear has a good moisturizer with SA and it helps keep pimples at bay. It is only about $5 a bottle and lasts about 2 months and you can get it at your local store. I have used this in the past and it works well. Personally, I use Biore products (which you get over the counter. Their products range from $5-$10). They are harsh on pimples, but not on your face.
Personally, Proactive didn’t work for me. I have been using Biore products for over a year and I hardly ever break out! Occasionally I will get one or two, but nothing bad. I use Biore Ice Cleanser for acne and Biore warming facial scrub every morning for blackheads (This stuff works. I notcied a DRASTIC diffrence in my blackeads being GONE within 2 weeks) . And then 3-4 day s a week I use Biore purging pore cream scrub. For body acne I use Neutrogena acne body wash I never break out on my body. It gets 110 in summer so sweat in inevitably, yet I never break out. Give it a try. All of it is cheap too. About $5-10 depending on what you buy! Salsylic acid it really good. It is in almost all acne washes. Benzoyl Peroxide is too drying for me! I think you will just need to experiment with products until you find what works for you. Remember, it can take 1 month for products to fully begin working! Good Luck! Jessica
I know how you feel as I had acne problems during my teens.
I’m assuming you have tried products containing salicylic acid
and benzoyl peroxide, correct?
Is seeing a dermatologist an option for you? I know they can be expensive up front, but in the long run I think you’ll have better success. Home remedies and mediocre store/infomercial products really add up so you may wind up saving money in the end.
The one thing you’ve got to remember, what works for one person may very well fail for 20 others. There isn’t really a “cure-all”. Taking your age in account, plus the fact you have scarring, a dermatologist is your best solution. They have various solutions and will work with you to determine the best treatment. Jeramoo
You probably need to see your GP. Assuming that you are not currently attempting to get pregnant, a prolonged course of either lymecycline or minocyline would be the most likely best bet. Dr Frank
Try to eat 70% RAW foods. Sounds crazy-but it will work. Think Party Food> raw broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, celery, etc w/Ranch - spinach salads-eat CLEAN meats-like Chicken,fish-sardines,etc.
Also take Artichoke tablets.
For your skin-steam, then use baking soda and a mild soap as a scrub. Put witch hazel on your skin, or Colliodal silver-you can buy the kit online. It is so good-the FDA wants to make it to where you have a script for it. Put it on your skin and take 2TSP a day-away from food -like an hour before or after eating. ailaine p
don’t use any more over-the-counter stuff. See your Doctor, who will probably prescribe antibiotic pill such as TETRACYCLINE or OXYTETRACYCLINE. It may take a few months to clear up. Be patient. Ask to be referred to a dermatologist, who may decide to prescribe ROACCUTANE - They give marvellous results, but are only prescribed by a hospital doctor, ad usually as a last resort, as there are side-effects.
I know exactly how demoralised and self-conscious you feel- I’ve had acne but had the treatment I’ve described, and am clear of it (at the moment). Good luck x shutyerfaceup
