I don’t know about drug store products, but there was this one cream that my dermatologist prescribed to me. I didn’t have acne scars, but right on my collar bone i had this discolored spot due to some problem with my pigmentation (i had originally thought it was some scar before, because i had never had a problem like that, and i actually haven’t since). Anyway, i tried so many different products (and spent a good deal of money on them =/) and nothing worked.
I’m afraid to say that i don’t remember the name of the product, but if you make an appointment with your dermatologist (if you don’t have one, ask friends or other people for a reputable doctor).
If you don’t want to go to a dermatologist, and scar fading products aren’t working, you can try bleach (NOT cleaning bleach or anything of the sort. it would just burn!). There are many brands for different types of skin. I would start with any product that is gentle and doesn’t have harsh chemicals that might irritate the area and make it worse. You can go to a drug store, and ask them to help you pick out a good one.
