He is about 2 years old. He gets fleas a lot. I give him a flea bath once a month, spray the apartment with flea spray, use flea drops on him, use flea powder on the carpet and brush him. When I took him to the vet a year ago she told me his skin was just bumpy and scaley from fleas and it will just go away. Well it has not and we only have a very small flea problem now so I really don’t think it is the fleas making his skin bumpy and scaley. He also is loosing hair. I have another cat who has no problems at all?? What could be wrong? Is there anything I can feed him/ put on him to make him better. He is always licking and scratching himself and getting his dead skin all over and hair! Yuck!
Thank you for the advive everyone. I am going to give him a nice bath using dawn dish soap, put frontline drops on him, and search the internet for good food for him to eat for his skin. I hate seeing him like this, he is a sweet cat

My solid white American Bulldog breaks out during the Summer, he whines like he has fleas biting him, his skin gets red & he loses the hair around his tail. Our vet is not sure what causes it, he was checked for Red Mange but thats not the problem either. Anyone have any ideas?

My dog is half beagle and half hound(don’t know what kind of hound) and he itches a lot. He gets regular baths, flea medication and I put oil on his food. He did have a skin rash as a puppy but there is no indication that it is back. I have checked him daily and there is no rash and he does not have fleas. I am taking him to the vet, but thought I would try on here too. Thank you
The shampoo that I use is an Oatmeal based shampoo that I got at Petsmart. He eats Pedigree, it is what i have fed him since i got him

I have a black cat that has severe dandruff, it is irriataing her so much she is sctrachting until she bleeds and even starting to pull out clumps of hair. I have treated her and my house for fleas. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I have taken her to the vet countless times and all they do is give her a cortisone shot which helps for a couple of months, but recently I was told in the long run this will damage her liver so I need other solutions.

Im a little concerned about my cat, she’s 16 years old & apart from being the victim of a v.nasty dog attack 10yrs ago we’ve had no problem with her health (apart from her being v.paranoid if you touch the area she was bitten).

She seems perfectly ok but Im concerned about her weight (she was the runt of the litter & is very thin), she’s very active & occasionally falls if jumping. She also seems to have nibbled some of her fur away near her hip - I was told it was due to fleas but we’ve blitzed her & cant find any trace of fleas…only rather sensitive looking skin.

When you stroke her if you touch her below her ribs she hisses & scratches - I know her old attack scars are there but am concerned about her hips.

My Mum thinks she could’ve just developed sensitive skin & maybe a bit of cat arthritis in her hips.

Can anyone enlighten me as to what the problem’s likely to & what the average lifespan for a domestic cat is?
Please note: If you’re going to suggest that I have her put down dont bother commenting!

I do not believe in destroying perfectly happy animals who seem to be relatively healthy.
