yes everyone puts him on steroids,benedryl, oatmeal shampoo, and a powder to mix in with his food. I have also tried a few products from feed stores ant pet smart. but still no relief. Some said it may be fleas but i also have a Chihuahua and she is allergic to fleas they sleep together and she has no problems so I know thaat it is not fleas and they stay inside i would be aware if there were fleas.
I use to take him to a groomer every two weeks but it was not helping i dont want to bath him to much because i know it will dry his skin out more.
For those of you who do not know what an E-Collar is, it is a plastic cone shaped colled that keeps the animal frombeing able to reace around and chewing or licking him self. It is not harmful and doesnt shock or cause the do any pain. just makes him look a little funny

I have a Maltese (4 years old) and about a year ago, she started to scratch. I often carried her in the house because she can’t really come down the stairs. Anyways, I found out that there’s something going on with her skin so I took her to vet. She took a shot (don’t remember what it was called) and also got a special type of shampoo to kill any bacteria and prevent them from spreading. However, it didn’t work.
I did more research and I was thinking maybe she was allergic to food. So I changed food (can’t remember but it was quite expensive…it was all natural without any meat in it so I had too cook chicken breast and chopped it for her) but no luck.
She is completely shaved right now and I can tell that her skin has darkened where she had skin problems. It is awful and vet seems to be very clueless. Her skin becomes red and I can see some blood but very minimal, then I see scab. It repeated for a year now.

I moved to a new home so it can’t be a bacteria from carpet and I rarely take her outside so it’s not something from outside.

Can anyone help? Thank you for all the responses. I really appreiciate it.

None of my family smoke and the house is very clean.

Just to clarify, she is NOT losing hair. I shaved her hair so that I can easily see what’s going on with her skin. I was told to remove scabs as soon as possible because apparently, that’s another way of bacteria to jump from one place to another.

He has red dots on his belly and red marks all over his back and 2 bald spots from where he chewed out his hair. His skin is flaky on his back and he chews his paws too. If anyone has any suggestions as to what it could be, i’d greatly appreciate it.

I cleaned the floor w/ clear watter washed everything she owns and tied her up to some very open empty space. But i was womdering, what else i can do for her? Is there some special detergent to mop w/, some special shampoo, is there anything else a should be doing?

He’s been itching ALOT he was biting himself to the point where he was bleeding, we took him to the vet and they said he had flea allergies so we got some frontline and meds and went home. it went away for 2 months (the same 2 months we ewre back home in Co) as soon as we got home he started again so off to the vet we went again she thought it was the same thing only…she couldn’t find a flea on him anywhere, so she gave him some meds said it was just skin allergies and sent him home…he’s still scratching? is there any products out there that would help with his scratching and dandruff issues? (tried the itching shampoo and sprays)

On her back, in the area about 4 inches from her tail to her tail, she had sores that scab and fall off then do it again. They never bleed or ooze. On her tummy, she has a scaly red area that grows from a tiny spot to a large area, then recedes again. The vet tried Neo-Predef and oral pred which have little effect. He sent us to an allegy specialist, who did a lot of tests, charged two arms and two legs, found no cause, but said it IS allergies and she should eat an expensive dry food for allegies in cats. She hates it, but she eats it, but it has been three months and NO IMPROVEMENT. If anything it is getting worse. I also washed the area with a shampoo she gave me for the condition, no help either. Has anyone seen this or know what to do? The areas itch her like crazy. Thanks for any help!
