Has your baby’s skin ever had this problem?

I have a 2 month old, and he has dry, rough skin around the outside of his elbows and going up into his upper arm, as well as around the sides of his knees and around that area. These patches are a little red.
I just assumed it was caused by him laying down a lot, and those parts of his body were just the spots that constantly got rubbed by whatever fabric he lays on.
Did your baby have this problem? Do you think it could be a skin problem that needs to be checked out? I may call the doctor tomorrow and make an appointment.
