Pug Skin Problems?
pug owner asked:
I have a 3 year old male pug who seems to have had skin problems since we got him. However, the skin in his groin area is darkening and though it doesn’t appear to be causing any discomfort, I am not sure if there is a medical explanation for the discoloration or if it is just something that develops as they age. I plan on taking him in but I always like to look at the possible causes so that I may discuss them with his vet due to poor experiences with prior vets. Thanks

Skin Problems?
Short Shot asked:
All my dogs are fed Canidae ALS, which I love for them. The only problem is one of my girls is developing skin problems. She is flaking, looks like a bad case of dandruff. I have heard that some dogs will react this way with ALS, but that some of the other varieties work better. I can’t remember if it is supposed to be Canidae Lamb & Rice or Chicken & Rice that you give to a dog with skin problems. Help me out here and remind me which one I should switch her too. Also if you had the same problems and did the switch, did it help your dog with problems?
OK, I will be a little more specific. She is only bathed once every couple of months. Her thyroid has been tested, she is normal. She has been vet tested and it is a skin problem created by diet, but I refuse to feed what the vet recommend (Purina), since I’m sure they recommended it because they sell it. No offense to the people who feed Purina and your dogs do great, but it’s just not my preference.
Also she is 2 1/2 year old, and no she isn’t blue, she is black. She has also had her heart and hips tested. Everything there is fine.

My cat has skin problems? Help?

He is about 2 years old. He gets fleas a lot. I give him a flea bath once a month, spray the apartment with flea spray, use flea drops on him, use flea powder on the carpet and brush him. When I took him to the vet a year ago she told me his skin was just bumpy and scaley from fleas and it will just go away. Well it has not and we only have a very small flea problem now so I really don’t think it is the fleas making his skin bumpy and scaley. He also is loosing hair. I have another cat who has no problems at all?? What could be wrong? Is there anything I can feed him/ put on him to make him better. He is always licking and scratching himself and getting his dead skin all over and hair! Yuck!
Thank you for the advive everyone. I am going to give him a nice bath using dawn dish soap, put frontline drops on him, and search the internet for good food for him to eat for his skin. I hate seeing him like this, he is a sweet cat

Can you help me about my puppy’s skin problem?
zehcnarf asked:
I just found today that my 3 month old puppy has 2 spots (about 1/2″ diameter) with a little coat loss with something that looks like slight wound. Is this mange? What might causes it? What is the possible house treatment aside from going to the vet?
Your advise will be greatly appreciated.

My weimaraner has been having some skin problems.his coat has become very blotchy and discolored, any help?
Andygirl asked:
He is almost 1 1/2 and has had the same problem in the past, but his coat evened out, now it is happening again and the vet thinks it could either be a common deficincy found in the breed or an allergy. I have been doing as much research as I can and can not find anything about a deficincy like this. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Does anyone know if Beagles or Hound type dogs have skin problems?
jenblueblonde asked:
My dog is half beagle and half hound(don’t know what kind of hound) and he itches a lot. He gets regular baths, flea medication and I put oil on his food. He did have a skin rash as a puppy but there is no indication that it is back. I have checked him daily and there is no rash and he does not have fleas. I am taking him to the vet, but thought I would try on here too. Thank you
The shampoo that I use is an Oatmeal based shampoo that I got at Petsmart. He eats Pedigree, it is what i have fed him since i got him
