skin problems
tarala7 asked:

My cat licks and bites his back constantly and it causes him to have scabs. When they start to heal they must itch because he will bite and lick them, therefore they never have a chance to heal. I’ve tried to put neosporin on them and I’ve even bought special food and treats that are made for skin health. Still I have no luck. What should I do?

take the cat to the vet and have the vet proscribe something. Jessica M

I don’t know what Neosporin is, but if it’s not specifically designed for cats, you shouldn’t be using it for several reasons- cats have different skin to humans, it can be extremely sensitive to things formulated for humans, and cats lick themselves clean and the ointment could make him ill.

You should take your cat to the vet to make sure he doesn’t have a skin condition.

Make sure you’re not using any products on your cat (shampoo, scent etc) that may be causing an allergic reaction.

You might need to make him wear a conical collar while the cuts heal to stop him irritating them further and allow them to heal properly. AngelCat

put alum on the spot, i might not have spelled it perfect but its close. alum is extremely bitter and you’ll find it in the spice section in the grocery store. i also wonder if its not an allergic reaction to what your feeding it. you might try a different food for a couple wks. singlecountrygent
