What’s the best multi-step skin care regime?
k asked:
I’m looking to start a skin care routine that involves cleanser, toner, moisturizer, etc. I’ve heard of Proactive, but I don’t want to fork out that kind of money. Any suggestions for alternative and effective methods to clean, clear, and moisturize skin?

CLINIQUE.

I agree .. Clinique is really good:
You can also just buy a cleanser, toner, moisturizer from your favorite line. For example .. Biore (what I use):
- Wash with Foaming Cleanser with the little beads in it (or Ice Cleanser for zits)
- Triple Action Astringent
- SPF 15 Moisturizer
Neutrogena makes a good astringent:
Choose some more cleansers/toners/moisturizers here:
I also highly recommend Neutrogena On the Spot for zits too.

Hope that helped!
Start with a gentle cleanser, like Aveeno which has a soy base so it doesn’t dry the skin. (Unless you have very oily skin most people only need to use a cleanser once a day).
Find a toner with antioxidants as an active ingredients like vitamin C or copper peptides. Then use a glycolic acid gel with a concentration of between 8% to 10%. Spot treat any blemishes with an OTC treatments. (Origins is a bit pricey but works well).
Next, find a moisturizer with a vitamin A (retinol) active ingredient, and last apply a sunscreen. (Anthelios is the newest one just approved by the FDA and is non-greasy, light, and absorbs well.) SInce it isn’t as cheap as some others, I only use it on my face.
The antioxidants will help protect your skin while helping it to heal and the glycolic acid and retinol will help prevent acne outbreaks while addressing any hyperpigmentation and other signs of aging skin.
Once or twice a week use a microdermabrasion scrub after giving yourself a facial steam for a deep pore cleansing.
At night, after toning again, use a rich nighttime emollient moisturizer. If you are interested in firming your skin, look for one with DMAE as an ingredient.
Here’s another very comprehensive skin care regime:
